As with all Tarot spreads, the answers that you receive should be intuitively interpreted. The cards are not literal, for example, if the present situation card is the “Death” tarot card, it does not mean that your relationship is dead. The death card deals with change, and it may be interpreted that your relationship is moving through a period of change. Try not to let your biases cloud your reading- lay the cards out and look at them as a whole. The cards are not meant to be read singularly, rather they are interpreted as a story.
It is also important to note that when it comes to the Tarot, it does not work alone. If you are looking for love, you can do as many tarot spreads as you want, but if you never leave the house or communicate with other people, you will never find love.
On another note, if you are having relationship issues, it is fine to consult the Tarot, however if your situation is serious, you may need professional help such as relationship counselling. Also, if there is any abuse, do not consult the cards to understand the other person’s perspective until you are out of the way of harm- at a later date you can reflect and try to understand the situation when it is safe to do so. Tarot should be used to aid your relationship, not to make excuses for staying where you know you shouldn’t be.
