Magickal Symbols- The Eye Of Horus
Share
The Eye of Horus, also known as the left wedjat eye or udjat eye, traces its origins to Egyptian mythology.
It is associated with Horus, the sky god, who is often depicted as a falcon. According to myth, Horus fought his uncle, Set (Seth), who had killed his father, Osiris. During the battle, Horus lost one of his eyes. The eye was magically restored by the god Thoth, and it is said that Horus gave this eye as an offering to his deceased father Osiris and its revitalising power restored him in his afterlife.
From this act, the Eye of Horus came to symbolize the process of healing and rejuvenation. It was this restorative power held by the Eye of Horus which the Egyptians came to consider as providing protection against evil, hence its use as a protective amulet.
