These handmade Guatemalan Skull Worry Dolls have definite "Day of the Dead" vibes. El Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a celebration when Guatemalans remember their dead loved ones and celebrate the time they had spent with them. These little skull worry dolls may look slightly macabre, but they are perfect for remembering deceased loved ones and being reminded that we too are part of the cycle of life and death.
"For the Mayas the duality between life and death was a cycle where matter or the body would disintegrate but the soul would subsist, it would take four to five years in order to reach Xibalba or the underworld. After this time, the spirit would dilute and enter through the breath of a pregnant woman in order to be reborn in another human being to begin a new cycle."

"An old story tells that when the Mayan People of Guatemala had worries, they would tell them to the worry people. At night they would place the worry people under their pillows and when they awoke, the worry people had taken their worries away."

Worried that a relative is not happy in the afterlife? This doll may be a good companion to tell your worries to.

Whether you like these dolls for their macabre looks, or you simply resonate with the idea of honouring and communicating with your ancestors, this little guatemalan doll may be your ideal companion, plus they don't talk back!
