These Lung ta (horizontal) prayer flags are the ideal addition to your home or studio.

According to Tibetan belief, prayer flags transmit positive intentions and prayers through the wind, spreading well wishes to all beings.

They are used to promote peace, compassion, strength and wisdom and unlike the western version of prayer whereby the wishes go to god, the Tibetan prayer flags are said to transmit the positive wishes to all beings within the area, thus benefiting everyone.

It is said that the air blowing through the flags is purified and sanctified  by the mantras on the flags. These prayers then become a permanent part of the landscape. Simultaneously, the image printed on each flag fades away into the breeze, creating an exchange and shifting of energy.

They help to remind us that we are simply a part of a larger picture. That we do not exist solely and that what we do can have effects on those around us and vice versa. As energy flows into something, it must flow out of something else, and so the cycle continues.

Compact and versatile, our 16cm x 16cm Tibetan prayer flags are perfect for any setting, however tradition dictates that prayer flags are best hung outdoors, in high places, so that the Lung Ta (translated to air-horse or wind horse) may carry the blessings depicted in the flags to all beings.

Prayer flags come in blocks of 5 flags (this set containing 10 flags). 5 flags represents the 5 elements and the 5 pure lights, each a core tenet of Buddhist philosophy

What each colour represents:
White: Air and wind
Blue: Sky and space
Red: Fire
Green: Water
Yellow: Earth

Hang these prayer flags outdoors or indoors near a window, and let the breeze carry your well wishes to those around you. They are ideal for your meditation corner, yoga or martial arts studio, garden, balcony, or sacred space.
